Slipknot to headline Sonisphere in Finland

Sonisphere Festival arrives to Finland also this summer. The one day festival will be held at Kalasatama, Helsinki on Saturday July 2 and offers a full day of metal. American metal band Slipknot headline the festival. Other confirmed acts include In Flames, Mastodon, Opeth, Sonata Arctica and Stam1na. More announcements will be made later. Tickets will be available on Wednesday February 23.

Slipknot are one of the most important and successful bands rising from 90's metal scene. The band has been a huge influence for other metal groups since the beginning of their career. Due to many appereances at Ozzfests and other tours with the help of many successful albums the band has become one of the biggest names of today's metal music. Slipknot have sold over 14 million albums worldwide but is especially known from their energetic and unforgettable live shows.  

Slipknot send their greetings: "We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer”

Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames are working on their tenth studio album ”Sounds Of A Playground Fading”. The album is expected to be released before summer. Known as a fierce live band Mastodon are preraring material for their next album. In March the band will release a live dvd/cd ”Live At The Aragon”. Swedish Opeth are also in studio at the moment so new material can be expected at Sonisphere. Sonata Arctica are one of the most successful domestic bands abroad and in early spring the band will be touring around Europe. Last year Stam1na were elected as The best band in Soundi rock magazine and their newest album "Viimeinen Atlantis" Album of the year.
