| American dream / folk pop duo Damon & Naomi will arrive in Finland and play at Kuudes Linja on May 16th. The stage will be warmed up by singer-songwriter Henri Seger who covers Elliott Smith's music.
Guitarist/drummer/vocalist Damon Krukowski and bassist/organist/vocalist Naomi Young's first joint band, legendary Galaxie 500 split up in 1991 after guitarist/vocalist Dean Wareham left the group. The new duo, carrying their own names, was founded a year after in Boston. Their plain, emotional, beautiful music has often been compared to The Velvet Underground and Jonathan Richman. In addition to their own material, the duo are known for their beautiful covers of, for example, Nico's and Tim Buckley's songs. Having put out seven studio albums, Damon and Naomi's latest release is "The Sub Pop Years" collection that came out last fall.
Over the years, Damon & Naomi's music has featured films' and The Sopranos' soundtracks. The duo also run a publishing house called Exact Change that has published, for example, Franz Kafka's, Salvador Dali's and Gertrude Stein's production.
