| Known as the creator of Ethiopian jazz Mulatu Astatke arrives to Helsinki in December 2010. The legendary composer and vibrafonist will perform at Helsinki YK -club in December 10th as part of finnish record label Ricky-Tick Records Jazz Heat Bongo Beat -club. On his last visit Astatke introduced mainly material from his "Inspiration/Information" project, but now for the first time in Finland he will perform also songs from his latest album "Mulatu Steps Ahead". "Spacejazz" collective Astro Can Caravan and Dj's Didier, Hannelelauri and Matti Nives with RGB VJ -collective will warm up the stage in the evening. Tickets will be available on Monday November 15th.

Mulatu Astatke started his career as the Ethiopian jazz pioneer in the 60's. Astatke studied music at the United States and returned to Ethiopia to unite the American jazztradition with Ethiopias rich musical inheritance, creating a new genre known nowadays as "Ethio-jazz". Ethio-jazz was presented worlwide at the latest in the movie "Broken Flowers" (2005) when director Jim Jarmusch used the music as essential force in the movie.

Also the Ethiopiques -series released by French Buda Musique record company brought Astatkes music more out and nowadays the 67 year old artist lives a new strong and earned upswing in his career. Mulatu Astatkes new album "Mulatu Steps Ahead" is literally a step onwords to organic and modern jazz when as the release "Inspiration/Information" recorded together with the masters of Brittish modern funk the Heliocentrics presented more the 21st century sound. The new album is a strong proof of Astatkes inexhaustible creative power and strong musical vision.
