The famous guitar virtuoso from Dr. Feelgood, the Brittish Wilko Johnson is arriving to Helsinki for a concert at Tavastia on Thursday, March 1st. The Finnish band The Souls is playing support. Tickets are available at Tiketti now.
As an important force in the rise of punk rock in the 1970’s, Dr. Feelgood has left a long lasting imprinting on later generations. Especially admired was the band’s guitar player Wilko Johnson whose manic stage performances with a machine gun like guitar playing inspired many young musicians. For example The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Jam and The Boomtown Rats have all named Dr. Feelgood as one of their influencing bands. An acclaimed director Julien Temple made a documentary on Dr. Feelgood phenomenon, “Oil City Confidential”, in 2009, and thus recently there been a fresh interest turned into the eccentric guitarit's direction. Next March the Finnish audience will get to enjoy breathtaking energy and unrepeatable guitar playing as Wilko Johnson rises on stage of Tavastia.
