Next Summer The Mars Volta will play their first ever club show in Finland. The American alternative rock band will perform at The Circus on Sunday July 3rd. The Mars Volta's latest album "Octahedron" was released in 2009. Tickets will be available on Monday April 18.
After post-hardcore group At the Drive in split in 2001 the band's vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez founded The Mars Volta. Their debut album "De-Loused in the Comatorium" (2003) was produced by Rick Rubin and became an immediate success, making The Mars Volta one of the biggest alternative rock bands.
Since the release of their succesful debut album the band's fame has only grown. In addition to numerous succesful albums the band have released an album in cooperation with the former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and performed at the main stages at worlds biggest festivals. The band's fifth and newest studio album "Octahedron" was released in 2009. Earlier the band have played in Finland only in 2003 when they opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers in Hartwall Arena and in Provinssirock 2005.
