Turku Modern festival spreads around the Turku club scene from thursday till sunday on 19.-22. of July. The program offers a versatile set of modern music. Finnish as well as international celebrities star the fourth Turku Modern, which brings together the best of club music spiced up with big international guests. Turku Modern happenings are held during the festival weekend at Klubi, Fortuna- block, Blanko, Donna, Aula and the Titanik- gallery.
This years guest stars are for instance one of the most important dancemusic collectives, the Brooklyn based Wolf + Lamb, from Berlin the strong female icons and stars of the famed Panorama bar, Steffi and Virginia. From London, Floating Points who is known as one of the most original contemporary producers, Mike Dehnert from Berlin who is known as the frontman of the Fachwerk record label. Also the most prominent figures in bassmusic after the dubstep- wave are the british Bok Bok, the dutch internet-radio legend I-F and the berlin based producer-dj Daniel Wang. Also presenting a very traditional sound is the highly respected record collector-connoisseur Loud-E.
As usual Turku Modern also offers a wide range of finnish modern music. This year performing live are for example Karri Koira, Eero Johannes, Teeth, Femme en Fourrure, Kiki Pau, Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Loft Apartment. In the Dj- section performing their talents are the veterans Esko Routamaa and Jussi Kantonen. Routamaa is known as an essential figure in the finnish Dj- culture. Jussi Kantonen is a dj but is also known as an expert on the field as well as a writer. Other finnish names in the Dj- section are for example Jori Hulkkonen and Roberto Rodriquez.
