Los Van Van, the Cuban band that has made a long and successful career, is performing at the Circus in Helsinki on Wednesday, March 7th. The concert will be accompanied by a Finnish band and the cream of Salsa DJ’s that will be announced later. The tickets will become available on Wednesday, December 14th.
Los Van Van, led by the bassist Juan Formellin, released their first album already in 1969. The band has been able to constantly reinvent itself and thus has kept among the hottest names of Cuban dance music ever since. The first time the group performed in Finland ten years ago in April Jazz. The band has also played twice in Pori Jazz in 2000 and in 2005 and last time Los Van Van was seen in Finland in 2010 in Helsinki at Kulttuuritalo. Many independent instruments including the violin, percussion, trombones, key, basso and of course the vocals make Los Van Van a charanga band, a salsa orchestra and a rock band all in one.
