Kid Congo Powers and Mark Sultan to Helsinki in April

On April 23 Bar Loose in Helsinki offers a real treat to rock'n'roll fans as Kid Kongo Powers (The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave) rise on stage with his new group Pink Money Birds. Also Canadian garage rock star Mark Sultan will rise on stage. Tickets will be available on Monday March 14.

The pioneer of American alternative rock Brian Tristan aka Kid Congo Powers arrives to Finland for the first time. During his 30-year career Tristan has had a significant role in the rise of modern alternative music. In 1979 Kid Congo was one of the founder members of punk, blues and country band The Gun Club but leaved the group before their first release to join The Cramps. Releasing several album with The Cramps, such as “Psychedelic Jungle” (1981) Kid Congo returned to Gun Club for few years. After moving to Berlin he joined a band just starting to gain name for themselves, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He played in the classic albums “Tender Prey” and “The Good Son”. Later he has played with groups such as Congo Norvell, Knoxville Girls, The Make-Up, The Fall and American Music club top figure Mark Eitzel.

Combining 60's garage punk with chicano rock, funk and wild rockabilly the artist has released three Kid Congo and the Pink Money Birds albums. His newest album “Dracula Boots” was released in 2009 and their new album "Gorilla Rose" will be released during Spring.

Mark Sultan combines 60's garage-punk with chicano-rock, funk and wild rockabilly and during his solo career he has performed with groups like The Spaceshits, Les Sexareenos, BBQ and The Almighty Defenders. "The sultan of Montreal" released his sophomre album "$" last year.
