Clotheshorses and other unique music instruments using cult group Cleaning Women are bringing an exhibition called Cleanland into Tiketti Galleria. The exhibition will be on show from 30th Nov 2018 until 29th Jan 2019.
The exhibition will see artefacts mirroring the Cleaning Women casts’ (CW01, CW03 and CW04) 20-year journey together, such as instruments, video installations and other materials drawing from the group’s past.
Taking over an Art Gallery is not new to Cleaning Women. The group’s member CW01, i.e. Risto Puurunen, has already exhibited many successful shows. Puurunen’s 3D-shadow pieces have also occasionally featured CW04’s, i.e. Tero Vänttinen’s, soundscapes. Puurunen’s 3D-shadow piece Machine-W that was exhibited at Tiketti Galleria during the Autumn 2017 was acquired by Kiasma.
With the group’s third member CW03, i.e. Timo Kinnunen, Cleaning Women have taken part as a collective art group at e.g. Parallax-exhibition organised in Mexico City in 2014, which comprehensively exhibited modern Finnish art. An installation Q4 – The Final Quarter shown at Laboratorio Arte Alameda that combines an audio-visual piece with a kinetic sculpture will be out again at Tiketti Galleria in December.
There should also be some surprises to come.
This exhibition by Cleaning Women foreshadows the group’s new album, which will be out in January. Cleaning Women have played over 500 concerts in 20 countries, accompanied several silent movies with their music and published three long-play albums.
