Organised on 8 - 10 July Ruisrock festival proudly presents world music star Manu Chao. Arriving to Finland for the first time on his La Ventura tour Manu Chao will be headlining Ruisrock's Sunday. The artist has sold millions of albums and is known as a wild musical experimenter. Having toured around the world with his recorder Manu Chau has absorbed sounds from punk, rock, salsa, jazz, reggae, ska, latin and cuban rhythms, French chanson and Algerian raï to make his own special mixture.
Born in France and having Spanish heritage Manu Chao will bring a touch of world music feeling to Ruisrock as his songs can be heard in French, Spanish, English or even Galego or Wolof. The artist's cheerful songs are also strongly pointing to world's present state. Manu Chao rose to fame already in 1987 as the leading figure of Mano Negra. Mano Chao started his succesful solo career in 1995 and is especially known for hits ”Me Gustas Tú”, ”Bongo Bong” and ”Clandestino”.
Ruickrock's domestic line-up is reinforced by Band of the Year and Metal Album of the Year metal band Stam1na and Kaija Koo having released her platinum selling album "Irti" last year.
