Legendary SWANS (USA) to Finland for the first time
| Legendary Swans will finally arrive in Finland for the first time next spring. The band will perform at Klubi, Tampere on May 10 and at Tavastia, Helsinki the following night. Both shows will be opened by acclaimed British guitarist James Blackshaw. Tickets will be available on November 8.
Founded by Michael Gira in New York in 1982, Swans have created a sound of their own combining strikingly different musical styles all the way from early post punk to metal, blues and even jazz. Swans were one of the creators of New York's no wave trend and they are considered the progenitors of art rock, alternative metal and industrial.
Swans split up in 1997, after which Gira continued to run his Young God label and concentrated on his solo career and his Angels Of Light band. Swans regrouped early this year with the following line-up: Michael Gira, Norman Westberg, Christophj Hahn, Phil Puleo, Chris Pravdica and Thor Harris. Their latest, twelfth in order, album "My Father Will Lead Me Up A Rope To The Sky" is the band's first studio album in 14 years. According to Gira, Swans will focus on material from the new album and their first two albums "Filth" (1983) and "Cop" (1984) on their comeback tour.
