One of the world’s best known and esteemed world music ensembles will be seen in Finland this fall as Tinariwen arrives for a concert at Korjaamo on Monday, November the 5th. The ticket sale begins this Friday on September the 7th.
Tinariwen is a group of Tuareg musicians from Southern Sahara. The band, which was formed in the early 1980's draws its roots from Tuareg and Northern Mali folk music as well as from Algerian rai music but the band is inspired also by western rock and names artists from Santana to Led Zeppelin as their influence. An interesting twist is that Robert Plant, the Led Zeppelin soloist, has announced himself a fan of Tinariwen and has performed together with the band a couple of times.
The band made it big breakthrough in 2001 at ”Le Festiva au Désert” festival. The fame soon took the band around the world to the stages of Glastonbury, Roskilde and Coachella.Tinariwen’s last album “Tassili” (2011) was Gammy awarded and features stars like TV on the Radio and Wilco.
