| At Joensuu's Laulurinne on July 17.-19. takes place the legendary Ilosaarirock. At Ilosaarirock Festival 2009 we'll see performances from such long-awaited artists as Killing Joke (UK), Dizzee Rascal (UK), Röyksopp (NOR), Maxïmo Park (UK), American alternative rock titan ISIS and hardcore/reggae fusion legend Bad Brains (USA). This year's Finnish headliners include Children of Bodom, Stratovarius and PMMP.
In addition to the actual festival, the Ilosaarirock Festival weekend offers numerous club gigs as usual. Friday's Töminä Club hosts the crust punk mob Diskonto (SWE) and the Sulo Club boasts Anna Järvinen (SWE) and Maria Mena (NOR). For you metal-heads out there is Metelli Club with Obituary (USA) and many more. At Closing Club on Sunday The Coffinshakers from Sweden will bring together creepy vampire tales, rockabilly and the dark country and western of the Deep South.
Ilosaarirock Festival has become known for its characteristically original programme, and this year again the festival offers an opportunity to see dozens of exciting artists both from Finland and abroad. During the three-day festival weekend some 100 bands take to the Festival's five stages and numerous clubs.
The variety of genres available is wide, from jazz to heavy metal and from reggae to the brightest stars of Finnish rock'n'roll scene. Ilosaarirock Festival's supreme line-up, uniquely relaxed atmosphere and immaculate organising have all contributed to the fact that the festival has been sold out already in advance for an entire decade now.
