| British indie rock band The Wombats return to Finland in March 2011. Currently recording their new album ”This Modern Glitch” to be released in February 2011 the band will perform at Nosturi in Helsinki on Monday March 28th. Tickets will be available on Friday March 26th.
After performing in Tavastia -club in 2008 the trio consisting of Mathew Murphy, Dan Haggis ja Tord Øverland-Knudsen have been through a lot. Touring actively the band has become one of the most important indie rock bands in UK and has been nominated as the Best UK Act in MTV Europe Awards. Their upcoming second album is Wombats at it's best with catchy punk melodies added with more darker tones than before.
The Wombats was founded in 2003 at Paul McCartney's Institute for Performing Arts in Liverpool. The band was chosen to represent the school at festivals in China and after that The Wombats were invited to Canadian Music Week. The Wombats rapidly rose to fame and the band sold out Liverpool's Carling Academy, venue of 1200 places, as an independent group with no record deal. The band's debut album ”The Wombats Proudly Present…A Guide To Love, Loss And Desperation” was released in 2007 and included such hits as ”Kill The Director” and “Let’s Dance To Joy Division”.
