| Green Day - one of the world’s biggest rock bands – will be appearing at Kyläsaari (Kalasatama), Helsinki, on Tuesday the 8th of June. The long awaited show is part of the band’s hugely successful “21st Century Breakdown Tour”, which began in 2009. Now the dynamic live band is accompanied by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts (USA) and The Hives (SWE)!
Formed in 1987 by Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals), Mike Dirnt (bass) and Tré Cool (drums), Green Day has come a long way from a underground punk rock trio to one of the biggest rockbands today. Green Day is known for such hits as ”Basket Case”, ”When I Come Around”, “Welcome To Paradise”, ”American Idiot”, ”Holiday”, ”Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” and ”Wake Me Up When September Ends”. The band has sold over 22 million records in the United States and won four Grammy Awards and the band's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, was released on
May 15, 2009.
Rock icon Joan Jett And The Blackhearts (USA) is especially known from their major hit ”I Love Rock´n´Roll”, but also from such legendary rock songs as ”Bad Reputation”, ”Crimson & Clover” and ”Do You Want To Touch Me”.
Known from energetic live shows, the stylish rock group The Hives (SWE) have been preparing their next album this winter and feel obligated to warm up Green Day and Joan Jett in Helsinki this summer.
