ALAIN JOHANNES and DEVOTCHKA to support GOGOL BORDELLO at Kulttuuritalo December 6th
| American gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello will return to Finland in winter. Led by charismatic Eugene Hütz, the band will perform at Kulttuuritalo on December 6. The stage will be warmed up by multitalent Alain Johannes with american indie band and indie rock, gypsy punk and Balkan folk music band DeVotchKa.
Founded in 1999, Gogol Bordello are known for their wild, theatrical shows. They broke through internationally with their third album "Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike" in 2005. The band's fifth studio album "Trans-Continental Hustle" was released in April. Gogol Bordello's members have also become known as actors; Eugene Hütz starred indie drama "Everything Is Illuminated" and Madonna's "Filth and Wisdom" that also featured other members of the band.
A founding member of indie band Eleven, Alain Johannes has worked and toured with several successful artists and groups: Queens Of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures and Chris Cornell, to mention but a few. He released his first solo album "Spark" earlier this year as a tribute to his late partner, musician Natasha Shneider.
Founded in Denver in the end of 90s, DeVotchKa started to gain recognition as a burlesque show house band and touring with pin up star Dita von Teese. Since then the band have become popular worldwide and they have toured with the likes of Arcade Fire, My Brightest Diamond and Gogol Bordello, of course. DeVotchKa's big breakthrough was their score to the hit movie "Little Miss Sunshine". Their latest studio album "A Mad & Faithful Telling" was released in spring 2008. Their next, yet untitled album is due next year.
