Organised for the third time this summer KaisaFest will bring the expected event at Kaisaniemi Park also this summer. KaisaFest will be held as a two day event at the sunny park of Kaisaniemi. On Saturday 18 the stage will be taken over by British pop sensation Duran Duran. The group is releasing their awaited new album in April. Tickets will be available on Monday March 28. The band's supports will be announced later.
British Duran Duran were founded in 1978 and rose to fame with the line-up that consisted vocalist Simon Le Bon, keyboard player Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor, guitarist Andy Taylor and drummer Roger Taylor. Since that the band has sold 80 million albums worldwide. The band aimed to combine punk-rock energy with R&B and discosoul rhythms and danceability. Their first single ”Planet Earth” was released in 1981 and rose immediatly to British single charts. Their following single ”Girls on Film" shocked with their daring music video that was banned by many tv stations at the time. Their debut album sold millions of albums and the group headed to the United States to promote. The releases after that sky rocketed the band's career causing Beatles -like hysteria when touring.
Duran Duran played their last show in the original line-up before their 18-year break in 1985 at US Live Aid event. During the break the line-up changed as Roger and Andy focused on their solo projects and Simon, John and Nick worked on Duran Duran hits "Notorious”, ”Skin Trade”, ”Meet El Presidente”, ”I Don’t Want Your Love”, ”All She Wants Is” and ”Ordinary World”. Having released 12 albums and countless hits, the band released their "All You Need Is Now" single in December and the already praised album will be released in April. The band's current members are Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Dom Brown who took part in the making of their new album.
