On Saturday, June 16th, at Kaisaniemi park will be organized a one day long Helsinki Classic Festival with Sting as the main performer. Sting will be playing with his rock ensemble a full set list of his favourite hits both from his solo career and from the years with The Police. Other confirmed artist for the evening are Britain’s most applauded soul voice Rumer, the Finnish pop rock greatness Hector with his Power Band and Latebird’s All Stars including Tuure Kilpeläinen, Tuomo, Jonna Tervomaa and Anssi Kela.
Sting is known as a man with many talents – he composes, sings, writes, acts in movies and takes actively part in human rights work. Sting formed The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Sumners in 1977. The super popular band released five albums and was added to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. His solo career Sting began in 1985 and has since released 13 solo records. Last fall the star released “The Best of 25 Years” compilation album to celebrate his long career. Through his career with The Police and solo, Sting has sold almost 100 million records, received 10 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and an Emmy and three Oscar Award nominations. This summer Sting is touring with most of his greatest hits so there is in promise a huge show to experience.
