British alternative rock band Elbow at Ruisrock Festival

British alternative rock band Elbow arrive at Ruisrock festival, organised in July 8-10. Domestic line-up is reinforced by alternative rock legend Circle and the newcomers in Finnish rap Jare & VilleGalle.

The brightest star in British alternative music, Elbow, will perform for the first time in Finland at Ruisrock this summer. The Manchester band released their highly praised album "Seldom Seen Kid" in 2008 and won the most significant music awards in Britain, Mercury Music Prize. The high expectations that this masterpiece set, were claimed when their newest album "Build a Rocket Boys!" was released in March. Elbow create atmospheres that are at the same time settle and harmonic and exciting and edgy. On top of this are the singer-guitarist Guy Carvey's heart melting voice and ironic and witty lyrics. After 10 years and 5 albums Elbow have taken their place as one of the most important British bands. Two great domestic groups have also been added to the festival's line-up.

On Friday Ruisrock will host the masters of Finnish alternative rock. Circle have rose to almost a cult like fame also abroad and during their 20-year career Circle have released over 30 albums, consisting of krautrock, psychedelic folk, space rock, ambient and at times they might be called the New Wave of Finnish Heavy Metal. Their praised album ”Rautatie” (2010) was full of hypnotic riffs and was followed by "Infektion" in April, heading for a more organic expression. No matter what they play, Circle have a way of always sounding completely different but just like themselves.

Having just released their debut album "Mustaa kultaa" (Black gold), the newcomers in Finnish hip hop Jare & VilleGalle arrive at Ruissalo on Saturday. The group have gained fame and loads of fans in Youtube with their videos, and build around the theme sports, their debut album rose to first place in official album charts. The world of sports can also be spotted in their lyrics as Finnish ice hockey players Jere Karalahti and Ville Peltonen are mentioned and the album was visited by HIFK player Siim Liivik. These young men carry such an amazing flow that you don't have to be a fan of sports to raise your hands.
