Verneri Pohjola Quartet

Trumpeter/composer Verneri Pohjola is a key artist in the lore of Finnish jazz. His recordings for various internationally lauded labels, most recently for Edition, and his classical work performing Kaija Saariaho’s last major work “Hush” have made Pohjola a frequent visitor in the most sought-after international stages. Now, his quartet – a core vessel for his own music, appears in Helsinki and at Väreet, promising a memorable night of highly personal contemporary jazz music.

Dùdu Kouate & Dan Nicholls (SN/UK)

Senegalese multi-intsrumentalist Dùdu Koyate and keyboardist-composer Dan Nicholls present their duo at Väreet. Koyate’s never-ending search for new sound worlds has led him into various musical directions and here, he joins forces with Dan Nicholls, who followers of We Jazz will know from the Y-OTIS live band and also from his own boundary-pushing release Mattering and Meaning (We Jazz Records, 2021).
