Rapper-singer Tommy Lindgren's only – and best – Finnish-language solo album Sininen kaupunki turns 10 this year. In September 2026, this landmark work that tested the boundaries of Finnish rap will be celebrated in Helsinki and Tampere. The last time the entire Tommy Lindgren Metropolis band was heard live was no less than nine years ago, in September 2017.
Lindgren is accompanied by the same trio of top musicians as on the album: Jarmo Saari, Abdissa Assefa and Teppo Mäkynen. The rock-solid live band is also strengthened by Ville Riippa and Felix Zenger.
Sininen kaupunki marked a new kind of darkly speaking expression for Lindgren at the interface between song, speech and rap. The album, which received four stars in reviews from Sound and Aamulehti, among others, is built on hazy soundscapes where hip-hop, triphop, jazz and indie rock intertwine. The themes revolve around human relationships, loneliness and togetherness in a “time where everything must be measured”. The debut album received widespread praise for its unique atmosphere and strong band playing upon its release.
The album also featured a music video for “Haamut”, directed by award-winning visual artist Perttu Saksa, starring veteran actor Matti Onnismaa.
At the anniversary concerts, the album will be heard from beginning to end in a new light, deepened over the years. At its core are the album’s atmospheric nature, rhythmic sensitivity and Lindgren’s multifaceted expression. The landscape of the Blue City is slowly and intensely built up during the gigs.
After these gigs, the band’s future is unknown for now. So don’t miss out!
