Tommy Lindgren returns to Sininen kaupunki – 10th anniversary shows in September in Helsinki and Tampere!

Rapper-singer Tommy Lindgren’s only – and best – Finnish-language solo album Sininen kaupunki (“Blue City”) turns 10 this year. In September 2026, this landmark work that pushed the boundaries of Finnish rap will be celebrated in Helsinki and Tampere. The full Tommy Lindgren Metropolis ensemble was last heard live as far back as September 2017.

Lindgren is accompanied by the same trio of top musicians as on the album: Jarmo Saari, Abdissa Assefa and Teppo Mäkynen. The rock-solid live band is further strengthened by Ville Riippa and Felix Zenger.

Sininen kaupunki marked a new, dark-toned form of expression for Lindgren at the intersection of singing, spoken word and rap. The album, which received four-star reviews from publications such as Soundi and Aamulehti, is built on hazy soundscapes where hip hop, trip hop, jazz and indie rock intertwine. Its themes revolve around relationships, loneliness and belonging “in a time when everything must be measured”. Upon release, the debut album was widely praised for its distinctive atmosphere and strong band performance.

The album also spawned the music video Haamut, directed by award-winning visual artist Perttu Saksa and starring veteran actor Matti Onnismaa.

At the anniversary concerts, the album will be performed from beginning to end in a new light deepened over the years. At the core are the album’s atmospheric quality, rhythmic sensitivity and Lindgren’s expressive versatility. The landscape of Sininen kaupunki unfolds slowly and intensely on stage.

After these shows, the future of the ensemble remains unknown. Don’t miss out!

If the event is not sold out, there will be student tickets available at the door for 30 € each (student tickets not sold online) before the show starts. A student card or other proof of study is required. The concert is open to all ages. A school-aged child under 18 can also purchase a student ticket at the door if the concert is not sold out in advance. Children below school age may attend for free.
