The Finnish new wave rock band Tiisu released their fourth album, Kuuluisat viimeiset sanat (Famous Last Words), in February 2026 and is celebrating it by touring across Finland. The themes of the new record include the climate crisis, fractures in society, the contradictions of friendship, and the absurd core of being human.
Tiisu originated in the early 2010s at Sibelius-lukio in Helsinki. Singer-songwriter Henrik Illikainen moved from Somero to the capital with the dream of starting a band. He was joined by bassist Väinö Karjalainen, drummer Riku Sonkkanen, guitarist Petteri Pulkkinen, and keyboardist Antti Vuorenmaa.

Tiisu first rose to public attention in 2015 with their debut album Elämän koulu (School of Life), described as a “mad carnival”—Finnish rock played with eyes gleaming and hearts wide open. The album was selected as Album of the Week by YleX, establishing Tiisu as a new hope in Finnish rock. Their second album, Tänne ei jää kukaan (No One Will Stay Here), released in 2017, was darker and more serious, but also received recognition as YleX’s Album of the Week. After this, the band went on hiatus. In the aftermath of the pandemic, their comeback album III (2022) marked musical growth and received excellent reviews.
