TAMPERE JAZZ HAPPENING 2026
The 45th Tampere Jazz Happening, which will be held over the All Saints' Day weekend, will have the honor of opening the doors of the renovated Tullikamari to the public. The program, compiled by the festival's new artistic director Martyna van Nieuwland, offers memories and continuities, but also numerous Finnish premieres.
The Netherlands will be the theme country, and its music will be heard both at the opening concert at the Klubi on Thursday, October 29, and at the concerts in Pakkahuone over the weekend. As ambassadors of Dutch jazz, electronic music and jazz bands Neon River, Raw Fish, and AWICHAS led by Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti will take to the Klubi's stage. After the free concert, the festival will move to the renovated Pakkahuone on Friday, where the program will include the awarding of the Finnish Jazz Association's prestigious Yrjö Award and the performance of the winner. The evening's concerts will feature Swedish supergroup Cosmic Ear, Tomasz Dąbrowski & The Individual Beings with Johanna Elina Sulkunen as soloist, and international MESTIZX. The Telakka will be filled with Finnish jazz performers Kiri Ra!, Dantchev: Domain and RinneRadio.
On Saturday, Pakkahuone will host two concert sets. The daytime program will feature pianist-led trios by Aruán Ortiz and Colin Vallon, and the Mikko Innanen Juhlayhtye will celebrate the Jazz in Finland 100 anniversary year. In the evening, Benjamin Herman will bring Tokyo energy to the stage, Kolinga will perform music that emphasizes community and traditional stories, and Manu Delago and Max ZT will bring their instruments that are rarer in jazz music. The Telakka program will feature Jukka Kääriäinen & Camila Nebbia, Raoul Björkenheim & Paal Nilssen-Love and Elifantree.
Sunday, Beiggja, who will be seen in Finland for the first time, Claude Tchamitchian's Poetic Power, and vibraphonist Joel Ross with his Gospel Music project will perform at Pakkahuone. The festival will end with a free concert at the Klubi, where Franco-Colombian ¡Ya Voy! will offer the audience their grooving rhythms.
