Drummer Paal Nilssen-Love and guitarist Raoul Björkenheim are a powerhouse duo of creative music. While both are members of the legendary Scorch Trio, plus countless other formations, their lean duo formation packs a punch and also dazzles with their subtle understanding of musical dynamics. Their new album "PING" will be released in October 2026 via We Jazz.
Recorded in Helsinki, the album finds the seasoned duo firing on all cylinders and delivering a remarkable set of contemporary free music. PING brings together nine excursions beyond “guitar + drums” and way beyond “free jazz”. That being said, those are still good touching points for the music that is wild, imaginative, raw, yet also at times delicate and introspective.
