Pratt & Moody is a soul duo from Helsinki, Finland, formed by Tuomo Prättälä and Markus Nordenstreng.
Leaving behind the psychedelic indie folk and desert-inspired sounds of their previous project Tuomo & Markus, the pair now immerse themselves fully in the rich territory of 1960s soul ballads. almost by accident their 2017 7-inch vinyl single Lost Lost Lost, released by Timmion Records, became a modern classic of the genre, selling several thousand copies in Southern California alone and subsequently accumulating millions of streams worldwide.
After four vinyl singles and a nine-year wait, Pratt & Moody’s debut album will finally see the light of day this October. The album showcases Mr. Pratt’s soulful falsetto vocals alongside Mr. Moody’s echo-drenched surf guitar, backed by Timmion Records’ swinging house band, Cold Diamond & Mink.
At G Livelab, Pratt & Moody will offer audiences a preview of the forthcoming album while also making their first-ever appearance in their hometown of Helsinki. So far, the duo has only performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Texas and at this year’s Pori Jazz Festival in Kirjurinluoto.
Tuomo Prättälä has spent more than two decades working at the forefront of Finnish soul and R&B. His debut solo single, Don’t Take It Too Hard, was released in 2007. Markus Nordenstreng is likewise a veteran rock musician who, in addition to his work with various bands, has released three critically acclaimed solo albums.
