Markku Kanerva Bright White Light (levyjulkkarit)

Markku Kanerva’s Bright White Light Line-up for the Album Release Tour in January 2027

After more than four decades at the heart of Finnish music, versatile guitarist, composer and producer Markku Kanerva steps into the spotlight for the first time with his own solo album. Bright White Light is an instrumental journey that takes the listener from the influences of progressive rock and jazz fusion into the captivating world of cinematic soundscapes. Joining Kanerva are some of the leading names on the Nordic music scene: Seppo Kantonen (grand piano, organ), Anssi Nykänen (drums, percussion) and Lauri Porra (bass).

Markku Kanerva has been a prominent figure on the Finnish music scene since the early 1980s. He has toured the United States, Japan and Europe with the Pekka Pohjola Group, performed with UMO alongside guest artists such as Michael Becker, Carla Bley and Jacob Collier, and played with Espoo Big Band, Jukka Linkola’s ensembles and the Riku Niemi Orchestra.

As a film composer, Kanerva has won a Jussi Award for Risto Räppääjä (together with Iiro Rantala) and received a Jussi Award nomination for Vedenneito. Bright White Light brings together his diverse musical experiences in a warm, expansive and melodically rich debut solo album.
