Maa ilmasta is a Finnish instrumental rock band known for their ecstatic live shows and carefully crafted albums. Their name is a Finnish wordplay that can be read as both “from the universe” and “earth from the air”, reflecting the band’s open-ended approach to music.
At G Livelab, the band celebrates the release of their third album, Kasvio (“Flora” / “Herbarium”). Kasvio is a colourful instrumental journey, combining the band’s guitar-driven sound with a string quartet, synthesizers, nature recordings and more. Following the acclaimed albums ISO YÖ (“Big Night”, 2021) and Kaunis kesäkaupunki (“Beautiful Summer City”, 2023), Kasvio continues the band’s distinctive musical path. Simply put: visual music.
