Beginning around the turn of the millennium, Kaj Chydenius, who passed away in April 2024, performed hundreds of Laulustudio Kaj Chydenius concerts together with various singers. Now his sons, musicians Kalle and Jussi, have decided to continue this tradition. The concerts feature a selection of songs by the beloved composer, performed by a small ensemble.
“For me, what mattered this time was not creating somehow intriguing new versions of the compositions, but rather honoring and preserving Kaj’s aspiration toward a stripped-down and as unembellished style of performance as possible,” says Kalle Chydenius.
Jussi and Kalle have invited actress and singer Oona Airola to join them; she collaborated with Kaj for nearly 20 years. The accompanying ensemble also features Risto Kupiainen (piano) and Sami Kuoppamäki (drums).
