Jukka Perko—a leading figure in Finnish jazz and an alumnus of the Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra—channels the spirit of the Swing Era in a program featuring evergreen classics performed with both Finnish and English lyrics. The featured vocalist is Jay Kortehisto, known for his work with popular Finnish bands such as Jean S., Ricky Tick Big Band, and Sunrise Avenue.
In this ensemble—featuring a classic jazz lineup—Perko and Kortehisto are backed by a tight, swinging rhythm section of piano, bass, and drums. It is the kind of much-loved, old-school jazz that is all about joy and a touch of tongue-in-cheek fun!
