One of Finland’s most respected and beloved vocalists, the natural and authentic Johanna Iivanainen, turns 50 this November. To mark the occasion, she will appear in two festive anniversary concerts set in beautiful venues. The concerts take place on November 18th at Tapiolasali in Espoo and on November 25th at G Livelab in Tampere.
Johanna will be joined by distinguished musicians who have accompanied her throughout her long career: Mikko Iivanainen (guitar), Seppo Kantonen (piano), Juho Kivivuori (double bass) and Anssi Nykänen (drums). The programme will consist mainly of Johanna’s own solo material in both English and Finnish. Both concerts will feature brand-new arrangements written especially for this ensemble, as well as completely new, yet-unreleased music.
“The years seem to pass faster, I move more slowly, but my love for singing remains. I feel incredibly grateful for all the wonderful top musicians I’ve had the chance to work with, sharing emotions and stories with audiences. Inspired by the bandleaders I admire, I’ve focused more on creating my own music. For these anniversary concerts I’ve gathered dear musicians around me, and it’s amazing to let these songs blaze with their colours,” Johanna says of the upcoming performances.
Born in 1976, Johanna Iivanainen is a singer‑songwriter originally from Oulu and now based in Mäntsälä. Her fresh, natural stage presence and nuanced expression have earned her recognition in television productions, in her astonishing discography of over 50 recordings, and in countless concerts.
