Now available online: new work by Tero Saarinen Company and Helsinki Baroque Orchestra!
Choreographer Tero Saarinen brings new dimensions to the music of Claudio Monteverdi, known as a radical innovator of opera. The composer's stunningly beautiful, revolutionary madrigals are interpreted by tenor Topi Lehtipuu, virtual soprano Núria Rial, Tero Saarinen Company's dancers, and Helsinki Baroque Orchestra directed by Aapo Häkkinen.
The director and main camera operator of the multi-camera production, shot at the Finnish National Opera, was Thomas Freundlich of Lumikinos Production. Freundlich is a leading exponent of dance film and was also a member of the production's artistic workgroup.
The digital premiere of Third Practice is on Friday, March 19, 2021, and the work will be available until April 6. TikettiStream viewers will be the first to get to experience the content, before the recording goes on to international distribution on TV. With a streaming ticket you can also see a discussion with the artists, in which choreographer Tero Saarinen, musical director Aapo Häkkinen, tenor Topi Lehtipuu and dancer Annika Hyvärinen are interviewed by Iiris Autio.
Purchasers of the Full access and Support tickets will also have access to a digital evening programme, designed for mobile devices and tablets. Besides an in-depth article on the origins and themes of Third Practice , the guide contains, for instance, information about Monteverdi and the music heard in the production, as well as introductions of the creative team, cast and crew. The guide can be read in Finnish, Swedish or English.
