Especially known for their hit "Sweet Home Alabama", rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd is arriving to Tampere Icehall on February 22nd, 2010. The southern rock veterans have a long career behind them, with over 60 albums and 30 million sold copies.
Formed by school mates in late 60's, Lynyrd Skynyrd has changed their line-up several times. In 1977, just three days after the release of their successful album "Street Survivors" the band was forced to a 10 year break due to a tragic plane crash that killed three band members; Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines. Vocalist Ronnie Van Zant was later replaced by his brother Johnny Van Zant. The current lineup is: Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark "Sparky" Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Robert Kearns and Peter Keys and backup singers The Honkettes.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the most respected rock bands worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Lynyrd Skynyrd is also known for their hits "Don't Ask Me No Questions", "Free Bird", "Double Trouble", "Gimme Back My Bullets", "What's Your Name", "You Got That Right" and "When You Got Good Friends". Their latest album "God & Guns" (2009) continues to rock on and was debuted at number 18 on the Billboard 200 in US. It is the highest chart position of a Lynyrd Skynyrd album since "Street Survivors" of 1977.
