This week's pointers!

Rainy and grey as the week may be, there's always lots to do to take the best out of your stay in Finland. In Tampere at Klubi today, you can check out the heavenly harmonies of the American roots band The Holmes Brothers.

Tuesday 4th of November Krakatau, a rock band with an ethnic and jazzy twist, plays a gig at Bar Loose, Helsinki. Same place, next day, there's an Australian rising folk pop star Stu Larsen debuting in Finland, warmed up by a Finnish power pop trio Wedding Crashers.

Wed 5th at LeBonk, Helsinki the stage is ready for the Swedish artist Prince of Assyria with the new album "Changing Places". Thursday 6th brings Cat Power to play her first solo gig in Finland at Nosturi, Helsinki, accompanied by Nico Turner. Meanwhile at Tavastia-klubi there's a real punk rock fest featuring Brittish Stiff Little Fingers and local group No Shame.

Fri 7th through Sun 9th there's a comedy about working life called "Den nya gudomliga komedin", played in Swedish at Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamo in Helsinki. If you're hungry for laughter, Helsinki's Manala/Botta on Fri 7th is the place to be! Italian Francesco De Carlo and Brittish Jack Campbell are there to give you a great evening of stand up.

If you are visiting the northern side of Finland, especially if you're travelling with youngsters, you might want to check out the charismatic, Finnish young talent Robin, despite the language barrier. He performs at Aspen-halli in Tornio/Haaparanta on Sat Nov 8th and in Rovaniemi's Lappi-Areena on Sunday 9th.

Sat 8th of November The Circus in Helsinki is filled with Jamaican and Ugandan rhythms by Jah Cure & Eddy Kenzo. The Norwigian metal band Mayhem, together with Blodhemn are playing on Saturday 8th at Tavastia-klubi in Helsinki and on Sunday 9th at Lutakko, Jyväskylä.
