| One of the world's most popular instrumental bands, Japanese Mono, will arrive in Finland after a decade's wait. The post rock four-piece will perform at Nosturi, Helsinki on March 28th.
After their career's early, Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine inspired stage at the turn of the millennium, Mono started to draw influences from classical music, Ennio Morricone and film director Lars von Trier. Mono released their debut album "Under The Pipal Tree" in 2001 and quickly gained worldwide cult fame. Today, they are one of the world's most renowned post rock / post metal bands along with Isis, Sigur Rós, Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky. Mono are known as a highly active live band - except for 2008, they have played hundreds of shows every year since their formation.
The band's most recent release, their fifth studio album "Hymn To The Immortal Wind" was released in spring 2009. The album features a 28-piece chamber orchestra and it is produced by Steve Albin who is known for his work with, for example, Nirvana and The Stooges.
